Fort Hood officials placed Montague Elementary School on lockdown Friday morning following what they referred to as an “external threat”. 

Officials have not released any details about the threat, but they have confirmed that it is off campus. According to a spokesperson with the III Corps and Fort Hood Public Affairs Office, the school will remain on lockdown for the remainder of the school day.

Parents received the below notification around 9:30 am:

Hello Montague Village Parents, This is Mrs. Renee Cook, Principal of Montague Village Elementary School. An incident has occurred near our school which has required the implementation of our emergency response plan. At this time our campus is in external lockdown. All students are safe and in their classrooms learning. Additional information will be forthcoming.
