Lesley McSpadden, the mother of slain teen Michael Brown, requested in a statement that her son no be part of self-serving business or political actions. Unfortunately, family members did not respect her wishes.

On Oct. 18, Pearlie Gordon, Mike Brown's grandmother and Tony Petty, cousin of the slain teen, were assaulted in front of Red's BBQ for selling t-shirts and other Michael Brown merchandise.

Witnesses stated that Lesley and an unidentified person arrived to the location and Lesley yelled, "You can't sell this [expletive]." One of the relatives then challenged her by asking for documentation proving that she had a patent.

This prompted the person that was with Lesley to beat Tony Petty with a metal pipe or pole in the face so bad that 911 had to be called.

Witnesses say the assault suspect grabbed the merchandise and a box of cash believed to contain about $1,400. Police have made no arrests and the Brown family attorney had declined to comment.
