Lil Wayne Unveils ‘Tha Carter V’ Album Cover, Release Date [VIDEO]
The wait is over. Lil Wayne appeared on ESPN's 'SportsCenter' today (Aug. 14) to unveil the album cover and release date of his upcoming new album, 'Tha Carter V.'
Much like the theme of his previous 'Carter' covers, the artwork features a childhood photograph of a young tatted-up Weezy with his beloved mother Cita.
However, Tunechi had to apologize to his mother because he didn't tell her that he was using the photo for the LP cover.
“I’m sorry moms,” he said. “I know personally that she don’t really like that picture of herself because she’s not looking in the camera.”
In addition to the artwork, Wayne also revealed that the album will hit stores on Oct. 28, the same day of the NBA season opener. And since the Young Money leader is a huge sports fan, it makes perfect sense.
The fifth installment in the 'Tha Carter' series is shaping up to be a pretty good album. So far, Weezy has released a trio of bangers from the collection: 'Krazy' and the Drake-assisted singles 'Believe Me' and 'Grindin.'
“This album means a lot to me," said Wayne. "People been waiting on this album and I’m just at the point in my life and stuff to have my mom on there. It’s more than an accomplishment, it’s an achievement.”
