Lea Michele ‘Devastated’ by Cory Monteith’s Death, Asks for Privacy
Lea Michele's world has been rocked by the sudden and tragic death of Cory Monteith, who was not only her co-star on 'Glee' but her boyfriend of the past year. Reps for the singer and actress asked for privacy as she navigates this incredibly difficult time.
Michele, 26, has not yet issued a proper statement about Monteith's passing. The actor, 31, played Finn Hudson on the show and his character was engaged in an on-off relationship with Michele's popular Rachel Berry. Monteith was found dead in a hotel room in Vancouver after failing to check out on Saturday, July 13.
Michele's reps asked "that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time." That's a beyond reasonable request, as she is dealing with immense and immeasurable pain.
Monteith entered rehab to deal with substance abuse issues this past April. During that time, Michele remained firmly and wholly supportive of her boyfriend, saying that she would stand by him, and that she loved and supported him and was proud of his decision.
A cause of death has not yet been determined, but an autopsy is planned for today (July 15).
