The Department of Public Safety's Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate a Killeen, Texas Police Department shooting that resulted in the death of a suspect a little before 6 AM this morning. The shooting stemmed from officers responding to a domestic violence call at 4:39 AM near the intersection of Southside Drive and Florence Road.

Upon arriving at the scene it is reported that the officers discovered two individuals in the street. One person had obvious stab wounds, and the other was armed with a knife.

Why did the Killeen, Texas police respond with shooting the suspect?

At some point, the officers on the scene opened fire on the suspect holding the knife, and that person was shot and killed. The Killeen Police Department will be conducting their own internal investigation in addition to the protocols that the Texas Rangers will have to follow.

What happened to the stabbing victim in the Killeen, Texas domestic violence call?

The stabbing victim received immediate medical attention on sight, and then was transported to a local hospital where it was reported they were in stable condition.

This is an ongoing investigation with many procedures necessary to complete. The public is asked to avoid the area, so that a proper investigation can be conducted as thoroughly and quickly as possible.
