Killeen police are investigating after a driver hit a man in a crosswalk in the area of Central Texas Expressway and Fort Hood St. and sped away Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the scene of the collision at 1:28 PM. They found a 33-year-old man lying in the eastbound right turn lane of the intersection. He was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple in stable condition.

Officers were told the man was in the crosswalk making his way from the south side of the road to an island in the middle when a white, older model Buick (possibly a LeSabre) turned onto Cen-Tex Expressway and struck the man. The car had 5-spoke alloy silver rims and dark tinted windows.

The driver continued to turn and was last seen headed east onto Highway 190.

Police say the vehicle may have damage to the front.

Anyone who may know the whereabouts of the driver or has information about the collision is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 254-526-TIPS (8477) or online at ww.bellcountycrimestoppers.com.
