A Killeen man was shot during an attempted robbery Tuesday morning, and police say the suspects are still on the loose.

The Killeen Police Department responded to a 911 call at an apartment in the 4400 block of Alan Kent Drive around 10:49 a.m. When they arrived, officers found a male resident who’d been shot in the torso. He was taken to Darnall Army Medical Center and underwent surgery.

The victim told police that two men, one wielding a pipe and the other a gun, entered his home and threatened him with the weapons. The victim says he wrestled the gun from one suspect but was shot in the process. The two men then fled through a back door and remain at large.

Police are looking for a dark-skinned black male wearing a dark shirt and camouflaged pants and a light-skinned black male wearing a light shirt and camouflaged pants.
