Killeen Man Suspected in Toddler Son’s Death

A Killeen man charged in connection to the death of his toddler son is in the Bell County Jail on $1 million bond.

29-year-old George Ryan Murphy was arrested Tuesday afternoon at his home in the 4800 block of Castlewood Drive. Police were responding to a call about a child not breathing when they found 2-year-old Colt Landon Murphy lying unresponsive in the living room. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced the child dead at 6:09 PM, and the senior Murphy was taken to the Killeen City Jail.

An autopsy at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas determined that the child was severely malnourished and dehydrated. Murphy has been charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury.
