A man is dead after the vehicle he was driving left the road and hit a home in Killeen Tuesday night.

35-year-old Roy Lee Brown of Killeen was pronounced dead at the scene in the 3500 block of Canterdury Drive at 9:57 p.m.

A Killeen Police Department news release stated that Brown’s silver 2004 Chevy Tahoe was involved in a crash at the intersection of Jasper and Fort Hood St. several minutes before running into the home. He was apparently fleeing that collision and headed west on Clairidge Avenue at high speed when his vehicle left the roadway and collided with a light pole. The vehicle broke the pole and continued into a fenced area of a home at the corner of Clairidge and Canterdury Dr., hitting the south side of the house before rolling over onto the driver’s side.

When police arrived, they found Brown underneath the vehicle unconscious and not breathing. No injuries were reported in the earlier crash or in the damaged home.
