A man who led police on a chase through west Killeen remains behind bars.

20-year-old Frederick Lamont Miller has been charged with evading arrest in a motor vehicle after he fled from police in a stolen Volvo.

Officers spotted the vehicle driving erratically along Ricks Road Monday morning. When they initiated a traffic stop, Miller appeared to be slowing, but suddenly sped away. Officers gave chase and witnessed Miller run several stop signs and drive dangerously past a stopped school bus. Miller led police for roughly one mile before abandoning the Volvo on Hitchrock Drive. Miller left the vehicle in gear, causing it to roll backward and strike the police cruiser in pursuit. Miller left behind an unidentified passenger.

Another officer found Miller running in the area and arrested him. Miller confessed to being the driver and admitted that he did not have a driver’s license. The owner of the Volvo told police the vehicle was taken without his permission.

Miller was arraigned Wednesday and remains in the Bell County Jail with bail set at $20,000.
