Members of the Killeen Independent School District Board of Trustees voted on Tuesday to change policies regarding how and when district-owned facilities can be used by non-district organizations.

The policy would affect groups such as nonprofits, churches, and sports groups which host events on properties owned by KISD.

The changes were made in order to create a better understanding of the approval process.

Changes included altering the language of the policy to allow a designee of the superintendent to approve requests, allowing extended rental privileges to churches in certain circumstances, and increasing the certificate of liability for property damage and liability coverage.

The changes passed unanimously, with one board member absent.
