John Legend's production company has been inspired by the movie 'Pitch Perfect' to create a new reality series that will be called 'Sing It On.'

This singing reality show will be for collegiate a capella groups. John has a good amount of experience with this because he was in the a capella group at University of Pennsylvania.

"I had so much fun singing a capella in college. The friendships, the competitions were all a huge part of my college experience. We're excited to be a part of a show that documents the real ups and downs of this interesting world that many know nothing about. It's going to be an interesting journey, and I look forward to being a part of it," Legend said.

The series will follow five university a cappella groups competing for a spot at the International Championship of Collegiate A Capella finals at Carnegie Hall. Get Lifted Film Co. partnered with CBS/Liongate Cable Venture Pop for the upcoming show.

You can catch the first episode at 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 13. The regular air date will be at 8 p.m. Wednesdays beginning May 20.
