In-N-Out Burger – Basics
We got big news in Central Texas. In-N-Out Burger is coming to Killeen. If you think about it, I guess it was just a matter of time. Californians are flocking to the "no-state-income-tax" state of Texas in record numbers so it only goes to figure that one of the most popular chains would come here as well. I, being from the upper Midwest, am not familiar with the In-N-Out chain, but after a quick web search, I have to say, it sounds delicious. Here are the basics from what I can gather.
In-N-Out first came to Texas in 2011 in the cities of Allen and Frisco, so this is an more of an expansion than an invasion, and it means that you just might be familiar with the In-N-Out not so secret menu.
To order at In-N-Out all you really need to say is one, two, or three. One being a Double Double (Double meat, Double cheese, fries and drink), Two is a single with fries and drink, and Three is a Hamburger fries and drink. From there it can get a bit adventurous. It seems that In-N-Out has a "Secret Menu".
In 1961, in lieu of costumers request, an "Animal Style" burger was created. An Animal Style gets you any burger of your choice with hand-leafed lettuce, tomato, a mustard-cooked beef patty, plus pickle, extra spread and grilled onions. That is only the beginning to the "Secret Menu". Some terms you might want to add to your vocabulary now are 3x3, 4x4, Protein Style, Wish Burger, Grilled Cheese, Flying Dutchman, and Mustard Fried.
You might want to run up to Fort Worth a few times to get some practice in so you'll be pro when they finally do open here in Central Texas. Keep an eye out for the Crossed Palm Trees.
