They say everything in Texas is bigger and it's certainly true in the case of bug bites in the summer. But with this one simple, cost-free trick, you can relieve bug bites quicker than most over-the-counter remedies.

Right now, my legs look like they were devoured by a small animal. And I'm not going to lie--they are driving me nuts! Look, even us Texans reach our breaking point with all these BUGS in our 100 + degree summers.

If you're like me, you have a medicine cabinet filled with sprays, ointments, creams lotions, potions and who-knows-what-else, all designed to help ease the irritation of bug bites.  But Lifehacker has a super-simple tip to instantly relieve the irritation of bug bites:

All you have to do is heat up a metal spoon under hot tap water for a minute or so, then press it directly against the bite. Hold it tight against your skin for a couple of minutes, and when you take it off, the itch should be gone for good.

A metal spoon! I didn't believe it at first, so I grabbed a spoon from the kitchen, heated it up for a second under hot tap water, and since I'm in not short supply of bug bites, tried this technique. And you'll never believe what happened--

It. Worked.
