According to KWTX News 10, Eric Black Jr., 20, was arrested Saturday night during a traffic stop, and charged with capital murder and jailed without bail. Black told investigators he was driving the vehicle from which a passenger opened fire into the vehicle Jazmine and her family were riding in. He said he was in a dark-colored SUV he had rented.

Barnes' family had described the gunman in the Dec. 30 slaying as a white man driving a red pickup but police acted upon a tip they received from a civil rights activist which led them to Black. A 9mm handgun believed to be the murder weapon was recovered from Black's home.

According to The Houston Chronicle, prosecutors identified Larry Woodruffe as the second suspect and the man who pulled the trigger during the drive-by assault. He has not been charged in connection with the shooting as of Sunday night but he did appear in court Sunday morning on drug charges and was ordered held on $100,000 bond.
