A senior citizen was saved from a house fire by an anonymous good Samaritan Sunday afternoon.

According to Thomas Pechal with Temple Fire & Rescue, firefighters were dispatched to 2509 Goliad Street at 5:20 PM. Whey they arrived, flames were visible in the front of the house.

Fortunately, three people who were inside the home when the fire started were able to safely escape. Among them was an elderly person who was rescued by an anonymous person before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters found a dog and a bird inside the home and were able to rescue them as well.

Pechal said flames were confined to the front portion of the house, but that the rest of the home received smoke and heat damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
