The jet fuel spill on Fort Hood has been contained.  The spill happened around 7 a.m. Thursday on West Fort Hood near the flight line of Robert Gray Army Airfield.

The Public Affairs Office reported that approximately 14,000 gallons of JP8 fuel spilled out.  Directorate of Public Works spill team officials successfully contained the fuel within a dry portion of Reese Creek less than a mile south of the fuel farm where the spill occurred.

Environmental officials said JP8 fuel is not expected to flow off post or enter any water supply locations. The water on and off Fort Hood is safe to drink. There is currently no danger to fish or wildlife off post.
