Last Friday (Sept. 29), a fan threw a shoe at Jennifer Hudson while she was onstage performing -- but don't worry it was a good thing.

On last week's episode of The Voice, J.Hud threw a shoe at contestant Chris Weaver who delivered a fantastic rendition of Otis Redding's soul classic "Try a Little Tenderness."

"Where I come from, that’s a compliment," Hudson explained on the show. "And we know at times when you sing like that, you better be prepared to what? Duck."

Well, at her Boston show on Friday, Hudson didn't duck but she was startled. Apparently, an orchestra member (who is also a fan of the singer) decided to compliment Hudson by throwing a shoe at her during her performance of "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from her Oscar-winning Dreamgirls role.

Hudson shared the funny moment on her Instagram page writing in the caption, "I told my crew, I said, 'Lord people [are] going to start throwing shoes at me after @nbcthevoice' and yall that's just what happened tonight! I got my first shoe thrown at me tonight! I could barely finish my song after this guy got done! LOL [too] much! I love it!!"

It looks like Jennifer Hudson has started a new trend. Hopefully, fans are careful when they throw their footwear. We don't want Hudson to get hit in the head with a shoe.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Hudson is among hundreds of musicians who went on social media to send prayers to Las Vegas after a mass shooting left at least 58 people dead and over 500 people injured. Read her response below.
