A family is safe and staying with relatives after a fire damaged their home on Fawn Drive in Killeen.

The Killeen and Harker Heights Fire Departments responded to the scene shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, the back of the home was on fire. They were able to put out the flames within fifteen minutes.

A man and woman and their three dogs escaped safely and are staying with relatives in the area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
