Driver Trapped After Truck Overturned on I-35

A truck carrying construction debris from West to a disposal site overturned on Interstate 35 Monday morning, trapping the driver for over an hour.

The accident occurred shortly before 11 am in Lacy Lakeview between Crest Drive and Craven Avenue in the I-35 southbound lane after the vehicle’s left front tire blew out. Firefighters spent over an hour working to free the driver, who suffered leg injuries and possible back injuries. Fortunately, authorities say the driver’s injuries are not life-threatening.

The Department of Public Safety called in a team to remove the spilled debris which may have included asbestos. The truck is owned by A-1 Salvage of Waco.
