Doug Bernhardt – The Man Who Kept The “On Air Light” On
It was time you met a very important person here at the station. As usual, we don't truly recognize important people until they leave. Today is the last day for our Engineer Doug Bernhardt.
When you don't hear the station, it's Doug who was on the road to the transmitter in the middle of the night to get your music back on the air.
Since he was also the I.T. guy, when the printer didn't work, or the computers crashed because someone was surfing for porn, it was Doug who got a call.
No matter how insane it got around here, trying to keep broadcasting on duck tape and paper clips, Doug was cool. Only seen him get truly pissed a few times, and then, since it was so rare, it was funny to watch.
Personally, I'll miss his dry wit, and his perverted relatives sending him "fun" pictures. I'll also miss my lunch mate. He seems to be the only other person who appreciates "American Dad" humor. We'll all miss his dedication and expertise on equipment that scares all of us. Oh, and his ability to wear T-Shirts from stations that no longer are on the air.
Goodbye Doug. Thanks for everything. Have fun Fracking.
