‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes!
The new 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' trailer will hit the web tomorrow, but an earlier look, via the first clip and new TV spot, has arrived today, and things are looking pretty intense for humanity in this terrifying new world. But then again, we kind of deserve it, right?
In the first official clip (shown above, courtesy of MTV), you can see star Jason Clarke leading a pack of humans into the jungle, while Caesar (Andy Serkis) and a horde of his apes descend upon them for an unnerving confrontation. We hear Caesar yell, "Go!" and the humans meekly agree to back off, wanting no trouble. It seems that the human element is going to have a hard time convincing Caesar and the apes to come to a peaceful arrangement.
Elsewhere, you can watch a new extended TV spot from the upcoming sequel, directed by Matt Reeves ('Cloverfield,' 'Let Me In'), and hear Caesar say a whole lot more. The footage fills us in on what's happened since 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes': the simian flu wiped out a chunk of the population and the apes evolved, leaving some people -- like Gary Oldman's villainous character -- wanting to eliminate the ape threat. Clarke will play a good guy who tries to align with these advanced animals, and there appears to be some very touching moments interspersed with all that intense action. We can't wait!
'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' hits theaters on July 11.
