Election Night proved to be a big win for businesses in Copperas Cove hoping to end its long standing "dry" status. According to The Temple Daily Telegram, Cove residents voted by an overwhelming majority to approve the sale of liquor and mixed beverages within city limits.

After city residents and business leaders organized a petition drive that garnered more than 1,700 signatures to force the city council to put the proposition on the ballot, according to unofficial results, over 6,000 residents voted for the motion.

This now clears the way for businesses like Spec's and Twin Liquors to open up shop in Cove as well as other businesses which are now able to apply for a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission license to directly sell liquor and mixed beverages.
