The Hill Country Transit District, operators of The Central Texas HOP transit system, are considering closing a few of its fixed routes and eliminating Saturday bus service due to budget cuts and lower ridership and they are giving the public the option to be heard.

According to a post on the Hop website, over the next 2 weeks, meetings will be held in Belton, Killeen, Harker Heights, Temple and Copperas Cove to give the public a chance to voice concerns about possible changes including the proposing of eliminating Killeen route Route 5, and Saturday service on all routes as well as adjusting operating hours in Copperas Cove and Harker Heights.

The meetings will be held at the following times and locations:

Belton - Tuesday Aug. 7 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm - Harris Community Center 401 N. Alexander

Killeen - Monday Aug. 13 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm - Killeen Transportation Office 3201-A S. W.S. Young Dr.

Harker Heights - Tuesday Aug. 14 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm - Harker Heights Activity Center 400 Indian Trail

Temple - Thursday Aug. 16 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm - Temple Public Library 100 W. Adams 3rd Floor

Copperas Cove - Friday Aug. 1 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm - Copperas Cove Police Department 302 E. Avenue E.
