The gossip all across the country right now is the impending divorce between Mary J. Blige and Kendu Issacs. According to The Daily Mail, Issacs is seeking thousands of dollars in spousal support, and social media seems to be in an uproar over a few of his "expenses". According to Issacs, he's asking for this amount to cover "the lifestyle he's grown accustomed to".

That lifestyle includes the following:

  • $8,000 a month for a personal chef
  • $3,200 for a personal trainer
  • $5,000 to pay his parents monthly
  • $5,732 on groceries
  • $5,000 a month for child support from his PREVIOUS relationship

Mr. Issacs is catching a LOT of flack on social media for his demands, but I have to ask this one question: WHY when women do this in divorce cases almost all the time? There are countless stories of celebrity divorces ending in women in most cases receiving huge paydays (consider for a moment Tiger Woods is still paying his ex-wife money as part of a $100 Million settlement....in 2010 according to TMZ). Its almost a given that the man will have to give up his share of assets in most cases.

But it seems that when it comes to role reversal, men asking their wives for spousal support, there seems to be a double standard as the man is called either "lazy" or "no good". Sure, backlash occurs when women do it, but its not as boisterous. But of course that's my opinion, what's yours? Should women have to pay spousal support in the case that she's the breadwinner? Clap Back in the comments in our poll!
