I finally got a chance to watch 12 Years a Slave.  I got the DVD, a bag of popcorn and my phone set on silent.  So I'm watching the movie and then surprise, then shock, then outrage, and then sadness .  There's more... depression, anger, embarrassment and then I got up and turned it off.  I'm thinking who thinks this is a great movie?  It is emotionally charged all the way through, and I turned it off about 45 minutes into the film.  I am one of those people who can't watch movies like that, and I know it is all the rage, but I just can;t watch them.  Any movie that deals with injustice, slavery, civil rights murders and things like that completely turn me off.  And by turn me off I mean I get up and turn it off.  I applaud the directors of these great historical films especially 12 Years a Slave, because the movie is based on a true story.  But still......I just can't do it.
