On Wednesday,Brittney Griner became the number one pick in the WNBA  draft and on the same day she announced she was gay as well. So what's the big deal? nothing really ,the world didn't come to an end and the Phoenix franchise who drafted her didn't fold, but just for a second imagine if the number one pick in next week's NFL draft announced he was gay,the media and social media websites would blow up with the news because he's a man, only because never has a male in a team sport in the USA  ever admitted to being gay.So is it a double standard ? where some women are suspected of being gay, particularly in the WNBA, probably even though it's not justified,so Brittney's announcement was really nothing to even talk about. "I've always been open about who i am and my sexuality," Griner said. "So, it wasn,t hard at all. If I can show that I'm out and I'm fine and everything's OK, then hopefully the younger generation will definitely feel the same way "An athlete's sexual orientation shouldn't be a bigger story then what he or she does on the field and we shouldn't obsess on a players sexual preferences.
