Okay Bell County, we have a problem.

The Bell County Public Health District is working hard with area leaders to continue to reduce STD rates in Bell County because once again, the County continues to have some of the highest STD rates in the State of Texas.

According to The Bell County Public Health District, the county ranks second in the state for Gonorrhea and third in Chlamydia, putting Bell County rates HIGHER than cities like Dallas, San Antonio and Houston. Seems like folks continue to not act like adults and use proper protection.

Of course the most reliable way to avoid an STD is abstinence but you NEED TO KNOW your status so get tested annually if you continue to be sexually active. Don't forget to get educated and educate your kids about the dangers of STDs and what they can do to protect them.

April is Sexually Transmitted Disease Awareness Month so be aware and get more information at the Bell County Public Health District website at www.bellcountyhealth.org or call the Belton Clinic at 254-939-2091.
