The Armed Services YMCA, planned at Purser Park in Harker Heights, has half of the funding necessary for the project following a recent donation.
Seton Medical Harker Heights has contributed $2 million to the project, which will ultimately require approximately $9.3 million. The center still requires about $4 million. Once 80 percent of the funds have been raised, the center will break ground.
The 45,000 foot, two-story YMCA will include a therapy pool as well as a family pool with year-round swim lessons. Cooking lessons addressing diabetes will be another feature at the facility.
Anyone interested in donating to the facility can contact Tony Mino at TMino@asymca.net
