Thousands of protesters hit the streets for the #KeepFamiliesTogether rallies that took place across the United States on Saturday (June 30). In Washington, D.C., thousands of people converged at Capitol Hill to protest the Trump administration’s immigration policies and reunite families separated at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Big-name artists like Alicia Keys and John Legend appeared at rallies in D.C., and Los Angeles, respectively. According to social media reports, Keys, who brought her son Egypt along, delivered empowering speech front of attendees at the D.C. march with actress America Ferrera.

Meanwhile, at the Families Belong Together rally in Los Angeles, Legend performed a new song called "Preach." He also encouraged marchers to fight against parents being separated from their children at the U.S. borders.

"You can't just talk about it or tweet about it. You've got to do something. I have to do something," he told the crowd.

Those who couldn't appear at the marches went on social media to show support for the movement. Drummer Questlove of the Roots jumped on his Instagram account and voiced his support for families and the protestors.

"June 30th is a nationwide day of action for our immigrant families & refugee children," he wrote. "The purpose...is to let this administration know that #FamiliesBelongTogether (not in cages). Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor, Your Huddled Masses Yearning TO BE FREE. The Wretched Refuse Of Your Teeming Shore. Send These, The Homeless, Tempest-Tossed To Me -- I LIFT MY LAMP BESIDE THE GOLDEN DOOR."
